Okan Mentes is a 19-year-old from Brussels with Turkish roots. During his school years, he studied fashion, and next year he will start a program in fine arts.
His work immediately resonated with us: contrasting graphic and organically appearing black-and-white images that he creates by manipulating his smartphone photos. These are images he "finds" in everyday life: the back and underbelly of the city, torn posters, coffee rings, shadows, patches of nature... his family and friends also become (un)conscious parts of his visual hunt.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday for a glass.
The exhibition runs from July 10 to August 3, and we are open during the Gentse Feesten week as well!
