DeNode Foundation

A platform for research, creation, and dialogue.

The DeNode Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Ghent dedicated to supporting contemporary art. We believe in artistic practices that look beyond the surface. Therefore, we focus on long-term projects and in-depth research, where the process is at least as important as the end result.

Our foundation is a vibrant ecosystem where exhibitions, residencies, public programs, and editorial projects come together. Instead of limiting ourselves to one medium, we embrace interdisciplinary practices that engage in dialogue with the social, cultural, and philosophical issues of our time. In this way, we bridge the local Ghent scene and the international art field.

DeNode is largely privately funded by its founders.

Art mediator, writer & independent curator

Hilde explores artistic practices through writing, conversations and mediation — creating meaningful connections between artists, works and audiences. She curated the group exhibition (expo)nentieel and Lee Ranaldo's solo exhibition, and conducts the interviews with the DeNode artists. For more than fifteen years she has been interviewing visual artists from Belgium and the Netherlands — collected in 4321 Vragen aan 123 Kunstenaars and published continuously on hildevancanneyt.be.

Collaborators

Realising our programme would be impossible without the tireless commitment of our many collaborators and volunteers. We regard them not merely as support, but as co-makers.

And beyond

Throughout DeNode's history we have been able to count on the help and thinking of many — among them Damien Degrave (curator of several exhibitions), Serafien Hulpiau, Marian Decroos and Ruth Vander Beken. This list grows with the foundation.
