Before Humanimality opens to the public, DeNode Foundation becomes the Fabulisterie. For one month, French artist Monsieur Térez will transform the Foundation into an open studio where artworks, stories and characters gradually come to life. Visitors are invited to discover not only the finished exhibition, but also the creative process behind it.
At the heart of the residency is an invitation: Become a Fabulist.
Language is the starting point of Monsieur Térez's practice. His creatures emerge from words, puns, invented expressions, absurd dialogues and playful misunderstandings. Here, words refuse to stay in dictionaries. They become characters. They become conversations. They become fables.
Throughout the residency, volunteers, schools, families and curious visitors are invited to take part in the making of the Fabulisterie. Together, they will help shape the exhibition by creating stories, experimenting with artistic techniques and inventing new Humanimals.
No artistic experience is required — only curiosity, imagination and a willingness to ask the question that begins every fable: What if…?
The residency will include open studio moments, collaborative workshops, multilingual language games and opportunities to contribute to the evolving exhibition.
For everyone — young and old. Children, parents, grandparents, neighbours, school groups: everyone is welcome, and building it together is exactly the point. No artistic experience needed.
Five afternoons, each from 2 pm to 5.30 pm. Taking part is free — join a single workshop or all five. One registration covers up to 4 people (count yourself in). Coming with a larger group — a class, a family with friends, an association? Let us know at info@denode.be and we will find a moment together.
Registration runs through the online form. Questions? Write to info@denode.be.
By the time Humanimality opens on 16 October 2026, the Fabulisterie will have become a collective work — shaped by the artist, the participants and everyone who chose to become a Fabulist.
