“My work investigates the connections between material culture, subjectivity, and vulnerability within the context of neoliberal economies. I am interested in how my own stories, geographic movements, and choreographic behaviors coincide with economic scarcity and aspirations in marginalized urban contexts or places with informal economies.
In my installations, sculptures, videos, and drawings, I focus on gestures, remnants, and materials that contain or imitate others. My practice is driven by a desire to preserve and present these findings and transformations in a way that maintains a balance between their affective value and the precariousness of the experiences that gave rise to them.”
Jimena Chávez Delion took part in the group exhibition (expo)nentieel at DeNode (2024–2025, curator Hilde Van Canneyt).
