“My work is about my inner life, about love, nature, farewell, about all that moves me deeply and which I cannot express in words. Besides drawing and painting, I also write and sometimes sing songs. The medium presents itself naturally, depending on what applies at that moment. The drawing on display in this exhibition is a snapshot of a situation in which I learned to let go.

Perhaps I was not entirely aware of what was unfolding at the time, but my subconscious showed through the drawing that we were indeed letting go at that exact moment. Letting go can be difficult and vulnerable, but also beautiful, soft, and hard at the same time. Hurtful and healing. The drawing explains itself.”

Julie Arphi took part in the group exhibition (expo)nentieel at DeNode (2024–2025, curator Hilde Van Canneyt).
