John Robinson — finissage

Dear art lover,

A warm welcome to the finissage of 'People Ruin Paintings' by and with John Robinson

On Saturday, April 25, the DeNode Foundation presents the final piece of the exhibition People Ruin Paintings.

It will be an evening centered around performance and conversation, where the exhibition reaches a turning point.

Performances IV: Hemisphere of the Earth

Inspired by the cosmology of Dante Alighieri, these performances explore collective gestures, altered perception, and the instability of authorship.

Blindfolded, participants step into a shared space to draw and write — images emerge without control or direction.

If you would like to participate in this workshop, 'The Hemisphere of the Earth', please send a message to info@denode.be

Conversation — Performance today: ritual, process, and the disappearance of the image

A discussion about performance as a structural instrument within exhibitions, and how action, failure, and residue shape contemporary image production.

With:

  • John Robinson
  • Prof. Em. F. Decreus, professor of theater studies at UGent
  • Kristof Van Cruyssen (DeNode Foundation)

Performances V: The Sphere of the Moon

Afterwards, the paintings disappear.

They are covered, withdrawn, and removed from sight.

What remains is not the image, but the trace it leaves behind.

from 17:00 to 20:00

location: DeNode Foundation
