Gilles Dusong is a sculptor who creates architectural constellations and retro-futuristic landscapes as an illusory and parallel world set against our urbanized and globalized realm. The installations examine the tension within our built environments and their correlation with humanity. Recurring symbols bind the composite units together with a cryptic yet peculiar visual language.
Like coded cityscapes, Dusong defines “archisculpture” as a universal script, both analogue and digital, physical and digitally rendered. When columns move and spheres turn, the symbols rotate around their axis of manufactured mass. Dusong’s constructed models and sculptural engines defy the gravity of everyday life with their ethereal yet raw presence.
Gilles Dusong took part in the group exhibition (expo)nentieel at DeNode (2024–2025, curator Hilde Van Canneyt).
