Jana Van Ongevalle’s work includes a combination of drawings, collages, and spatial works characterized by self-imposed constraints, playing with forms and structures within a predetermined framework. Her process is fueled by everyday objects and patterns that she uses as ‘tools.’ Through arrangement and deconstruction, she plays with compositions in which the original references fade.
It’s a search between form, function, and sculpture, between drawings and design, often starting with a simple shape that, through repetition, tries to push boundaries.
