Nikolaas Demoen’s work does not “focus”: it does not seek to solve social or political problems, it’s not clear who or what it’s investigating, it does not attack art history nor aims to align with it, it’s not critical about this or that. Rather, it is work that makes the space and distance between an action and an end result visible and tangible, just as hands do if we look at them long enough.
