Nicolas Van Parys (BE) is a painter. For over a decade his work has departed from collage — an anchor for generating new images and letting in a touch of surrealism — after which the translation into paint transforms the image further, sometimes until the source becomes unrecognisable. Fragments of our collective visual culture flow into lyrical, painted in-between worlds.
A journey to Varanasi (Kashi), on the banks of the Ganges, fundamentally shifted his practice. Out of it grew his solo exhibition Kashi Rupé — unfolded at DeNode (2026, curator Kristof Vander Cruyssen).
