Stichting DeNode — januari 2026

DeNode Foundation is proud to present People Ruin Paintings, the first solo presentation in Ghent by British artist John Robinson (@johnrobinsonpainter).

You are warmly invited to the opening on Friday, February 13 at 6:00 PM, with performances by the artist.

The exhibition offers an overview of Robinson's practice at the intersection of painting and performance: completed paintings emerging from earlier actions are presented alongside traces, props, and staged situations that will generate future works over the course of the exhibition.

Curated by Hanna Ouaziz (@hanna_ouaziz), the exhibition maps the full ecosystem of his creative relationships — what happens, what remains, and what is translated into image.

Robinson's presence continuously haunts the rooms. Residues of earlier actions function as reminders that never quite cohere, while performance stages remain as charged objects — less scenography than evidence — compelling us into the oldest contract in art: trust. Do we trust the artist? Do we trust what he has left behind?
