Guillaume Van Moerkercke draws with charcoal — raw, black and dusty, at once trace and erasure. His drawings are slow excavations from sketchbooks, memories and visions; the black is not emptiness but an origin, layered and alive, in which forgotten forms surface like echoes in the silence. His work asks for slowness, for an eye that adjusts to what hides in the shadows.
At DeNode he presented the duo exhibition Vestiges together with Chantal Pollier (2025, curator Kristof Vander Cruyssen); the duo also created the sleeve artwork for the Vestiges LP, the vinyl release by cellist Robrecht Kessels rooted in the exhibition.
