Simon Van Parys graduated from KASK in Ghent in 2010 with a master's in sculpture. For five years he was a sculptor through and through — modelling everything by hand — until from 2016 his practice turned into a total spectacle: sculpture at the core, with digital drawings, techno music and discotheque lasers as offshoots.
His sculptures, grafted onto spaceflight and machinery, operate in a universe of their own, between a distant past and a distant future.
At Nodenaysteen (Predikherenlei 4) he presented AI Universe (2023–2024): a series of images built with artificial intelligence, released as an NFT series — one of the very first exhibitions in the building.
